Ideal spacing between children?

Question

What is your ideal or current child spacing? I’d love to hear pros/cons for different age gaps. 
We have a 3.5 month old son, our first child. Thinking of trying another baby soon possibly. We are mid thirties already and don’t want to wait too long. But we also want to give our son a little time to keep growing.

I have a 7 year old. 
and a 3.5 month old. 
and its lovely. 
she is like a little mother to him. 
she adores and loves him, puts the paci in his mouth, wipes his spit up, hangs out with him. she loves when he goes with us everywhere. 
I loved having just her for a long time. spending quality time with her. not having to share that time with another baby was important. 
I didn't want to be wrangling two little kiddos all the time. fighting sleep. potty training. terrible twos, threenager, sassy 4s. I just wanted time with her one on one. 
at the same time, we were both ready for a little sibling. I think that was important.

The age gap between my two daughters is 2.5 years. Which I think is perfect. My oldest was old enough to understand I was pregnant and gonna have another baby. And old enough to understand what being gentle is and how to do it. She loves her sister soooooo much and is great with her. When she starts to cry, my older girl picks up a toy and try's to play with her sister. If that doesn't work, she knows she can grab a bottle out of the fridge and feed her, although she hasn't quite figured out she needs to warm up the bottle first. I try hard to include my almost 3 year old is everything that involves baby sister and shes such an amazing help. Now if she could only change diapers.

I want to at least wait until my son is able to start preschool and is completely potty trained to start trying. I want to be able to give them the one on one time and attention they need when they are little! My husband works a lot, so I am the sole "caregiver" and don't want to overwhelm myself.

I think we'll start trying for baby#2 once my son is 2 years old,  maybe a little sooner as it took us 9 months to get pregnant with him.  But yea,  I think a 2 to 3 year age difference is good for siblings and also gives your body time to heal.

My babies are 2 years and 4 months apart and it has worked well. It might’ve been a little bit easier if there were an additional couple months between them just because my daughter was at a really difficult stage. We still hadn’t perfected potty training, which I really had wanted to be done before the baby, and she was constantly sick. We were finally able to get tubes in her ears, which helped with her ear infections, and perfect potty training by the time my son was 2 months old. It was a tough first couple of weeks, but I love how close they are. My daughter loves her brother so much.

My oldest turned 3 years old in January and my second son was born in February so a 3 year gap. Personally I think that’s perfect. I was able to give full attention to my 3 year old and I was able to potty train him by the age of 2.

My two are 19 months apart. I wanted them close because my sister and I are 15 months apart but omg it’s so hard! I definitely would love to have a third but I’m spacing them out longer next time around.

My kids are all super close and I love it. We have a 2.5 year old, 1.5 year old and 3.5 month old. 1-20-17, 1-3-18, and 3-9-19
