Am I a mother?

Question

Women who haven't had a viable pregnancy yet, do you consider yourselves mothers?  I lost a little boy at 21 weeks and another child at 7 weeks pregnancy, and I'm not sure if I should identify as a mother or not.  What do you think?

I go back and forth. 
I know I cared for this baby with all I had. And that makes me a great mom. 
But I never got to hold him and kiss him and show him to the world. So I feel less like a mom. 
I allow myself to fluctuate. If today I feel like I’m a mom, that’s fine. If tomorrow I’m sad because I don’t feel like a mom, that’s ok too.

My opinion might not matter since I do have a child but I think any woman who carried a child in her womb is a mother. PERIODT. ♥️

You carried your child and loved them with all your heart and soul. Just because they are now angels instead of here on earth, does not make you any less of a mother. Yes, you ARE a mother. I am so deeply sorry for your loss and pray you all get your miracles. 💗

Don’t let anyone tell you that you’re not! You conceived a child, you beared it as much and long as you could. You loved it with everything. In my eyes that’s what a mother does with or without the baby to show for.

With my MC, i totally saw myself as a mom. We only got as far as 9w but my heart was in full mother-mode. I blamed myself a lot for the loss- to me, i was the ultimate bad mother. I wasnt able to keep my baby alive long enough. It took many months for me to accept that i was not/am not a bad mother or person. I still get sad & still wonder if there was anything more i could have done as a mother for my little one. So, go with ur heart. If ur heart says mom, then yes u r mom 💟☮️

I lost a child at 8 months in a car accident. I was told by a nurse “I’m sorry you didn’t get to be a mother” I lost my shit!!!
