First time in pool - age?

Question

My husband and I are going to visit family next week. A family friend has a pool. We want to put our then 8 week old in a pool for the first time. Her pediatrician was very wishy washy on if this would be ok. 
I bought a pool float with uv canopy, uv long sleeve swimsuit and baby alveno sunscreen for her. 
Is this a bad idea? How old were your kids when you exposed them to a pool for first time?

No sun screen until 6m and my son was extremely allergic to aveeno baby.

Just chiming in on the suncream debate, as some wait til 6 months some don't. Its a balance of risk and what you feel comfortable doing. Yep, lotions are bad for the skin, but so is sun burn. Depends how likely to be exposed you are to the sun and able to find shade.
If you use it, do a small patch test first and leave for 24 hours. And always wash it off in the evening

We took him in at 3 months. My pediatrician said sunscreen is fine before 6 months as long as it’s the baby kind.

Our doctor didn’t see an issue with us taking a baby swimming. Even told us we could use sunscreen if there was a chance a burn would occur. I would give a bath after to get the chlorine off the baby though.

Keep her well protected from the sun and not in super cold water. We didn’t do pools until he was a year old but that was just my person preference.

As long as the pool isn't cold I don't see anything wrong with it. I had this conversation with my LO's pediatrician when my LO was 4 months. He basically said that as long as the water isn't cold and we use mineral based sunblock then he didn't have any hesitation with giving us the go ahead.
