It takes time. I lost my 1st cat after 16 years and I was devastated. I felt like my heart had been ripped out. My home felt so empty. I missed her jumping on my ribs in the middle of the night even though I would yell at her for hurting me.  I was so lost. I promised myself I would never have another cat. That was June 2, 2010. A week later my dad ended up in the hospital and I concentrated on him which helped. January 2011 I found an abused calico cat that was thrown outside with broken ribs and she was starving. I brought her home so she wouldn't freeze, but tried to find her owners because I thought she may have just been hurt. Shes still here. It was like she needed me and I needed her. She will NEVER replace my 1st cat. I'm not telling you to find another dog. I'm telling you that you will hurt and be empty for a while. Cry...dont hide it. Animal lovers will understand. Sorry for your loss.

It’s been over a year, and I still miss my rotti horribly. I just have to tell myself that he’s in doggie heaven eating bumble bees and chasing after rocks. I lost my other rott a few months ago. She was sick as well, and she is up there enjoying her time with her best friend. I’ll see them one day, and that really helps me (knowing that one day I’ll be able to spend eternity with them). Just try to remember the good times but grieve as much as you need to. You deserve it. Print out some pictures or get a tattoo as commemoration. Fill your house with that love and positivity

Honestly it never goes away. It's been almost 3 years since my Spencer died and I'm still not the same. There are days where I just break down crying even now. I have 2 beautiful doggos now who are going to be a year old soon and they help a lot. Before I got them I was so depressed I couldn't even get out of bed half the time. They have helped in so many ways and a part of me thinks that Spencer sent them to me when he knew I needed them. I'm sorry for the loss of your family member.

When I lost my cat, I cried for several weeks but I eventually got a tattoo of her paw on my ankle as a reminder that she was the sweetest little purr monster ever. She died very unexpectedly and I could’ve prevented it.. she was 15 and lived a very long and loving life. It’s okay to be sad but remember all of the good times with them, maybe all of the stupid and goofy shit they did. She is a part of me always❤️ her name was HoneyBear🍯🐱

I had to put my girl down 7 months ago. She was only 1.5yrs old. She got super sick and every test we had done came back normal. We couldn’t find an answer, and we couldn’t afford to take her to specialist. I regret my decision every day. I wish I took a loan out so that I could have made her better. She was my best friend and she loved her baby brother so damn much. My heart hurts still to this day. There’s not a day that goes by that I don’t think about her. We had her cremated so she’ll always be with me. I wish I could tell you it gets easier and better but that’d be a lie.
