IS HE CHEATING?

So we’ve been together since January and he has been my best friend ever since we were like 12. I’m now 20. I’ve helped him literally when he was homeless and had nothing to his name but his phone. I took him into my home and he has been very grateful but I knew in his past he had a tendency to cheat but I figured he matured and stopped. Well tonight he was laying down and I went to cuddle with him and he immediately swiped out of his Instagram and what it seemed to be in his DM’s. He also gets kinda “nervous” when I have his phone. I never had no reason to go through his phone at all because I trust this man with my life. I’m really thinking about going through his phone tomorrow while he is at work ( he is using my old phone to text me because he has no service on his phone) should I? Or am I just being paranoid? Please help

I never agree with going through someone’s phone. It’s just too much. If you have a gut feeling, address it. If you believe him, stay with him. If you think he’s lying, leave the relationship. No need to invade his personal belongings.

If you need to go through his phone, your relationship already has serious issues. 
You either trust him or don't.
If you think he's cheating, calmly approach it with a conversation.

You say you trust this man with your life but then you're wanting to go through his phone while he's at work?... That doesn't sound very much like trust to me. If you don't trust him you shouldn't be in the relationship. Just my thoughts. If you feel you really need to invade his personal phone and go through his conversations then go ahead but honestly you could be ruining the relationship you have.

If he’s acting nervous and logs off quick maybe . You know his past so could be a possibility, only you know your bf . Follow your gut.

If you aren’t sure if you can trust him then there is likely a reason for that.  Trust your gut.   On a positive note, he is ok with you having access to his phone all day.
