Disneyland vs. Disneyworld?

Question

I’ll start with I am leaning more towards Disneyland. I’ve heard it’s better for younger kids. Mine will be 5 years old and nearly 18 months. Agree? Disagree? 
Additionally what else is there to do that is little kid friendly in Cali?

Better to stay at the hotel at either park or not ?

I’ve been to both and I like Disneyland waaaaay better. Disney world is just SO  overwhelming and big. Disneyland is less crowded (still crowded just not AS crowded) and you can actually go around and enjoy most every ride. You’ll still obviously want a few days for WDL...it’s pretty hard to enjoy it in just 1 or 2 days but I feel like you need a lot more time to get to enjoy WDW. 
Plus...Florida is so hot and humid (unless you go in the winter). I lived there for a couple years and do not miss it.

Personally think great Disneyland for 5 year old but for 18 month not worth it those are big expensive trips and would personally wait til both kids are old enough to remember it, i was almost 10 when i went it was so much fun and loved the faced i remember ever moment

I’ve been to WDW multiple times and my husband has been over 50x. We went to Disneyland for the first time this year and it was amazing! We’re gonna splurge for his 30th and get Disneyland annual passes next year and go multiple times. It’s more laid back, has a calmer feel, the food is better than at WDW and Pixar Pier at DCA is so cute.

We went to Disneyland for our kids 5th birthday trip. She was able to go on most rides but too short for some. We had a blast.
Maybe also check out fairytale town in California if it is still there? I remember my parents taking us as kids

I’ve never been to Disneyland but I’ve been to Disney World many times. I just love Disney World but I personally am waiting until my daughter is 3 to take her so that she will remember at least some of it. My husband says Disneyland is much more cramped.

I worked at Disneyland and there’s plenty of nice hotels right there that are cheaper. It’s pretty walkable too but there’s always shuttles for most of the hotels.
