Baby shower for second baby?

I’m currently pregnant with baby #2 and am having another girl. I wasn’t planning on having a baby shower this time as I was told that baby showers are generally meant for your first child. However, as I’m nearing the end of my pregnancy I’ve been asked multiple times when the baby showers going to be :-/

I’ve never been invited to a shower for a second kid. You should already have everything you need, which is the purpose of a shower- to get showered w gifts (and love/well wishes) to make sure you have the items you need for baby. A second one would be seen as greedy.

Where I’m from we don’t throw our own showers so personally I wouldn’t if your kids are close in age and especially the same gender. Maybe like a little BBQ with a few close friends and family, like a diaper party or something where people can bring diapers and wipes. My kids are almost 9 years apart and I have a boy and girl, but from different fathers, so our moms wanted to throw us one just for the fact that this was my husbands first baby and I had gotten rid of most of my stuff... but if I had had them closer in age I wouldn’t have let them throw me a big one like they did. Just my opinion though 🤷🏻‍♀️ also in my experience people will buy you little gifts when the baby is born anyway.

Every baby deserves to be celebrated. If it’s your first or your 7th they deserve a party and new gifts too

I think it’s fine to have one but personally I would want someone else to approach me and offer to host it. I wouldn’t ask someone to do it for me unless it was extremely low budget and specified no gifts or only diapers or something very modest like that. If someone wants to do more, great, but I wouldn’t want to ask.

You don’t have to have a baby shower to celebrate your baby. You could always have a baby q, a dinner or a sprinkle with gifts optional. A baby shower is to shower a first time mom with everything she needs to prepare her for motherhood, not necessarily to celebrate the baby. It’s up to you. I’m not having a second one. I think it’s tacky and seems greedy. Which is an unpopular opinion, I’m fully aware.

If you want another shower then have one - if not don’t. I think everyone should be able to celebrate every baby regardless of genitals or age gap if they want to. Anyone who uses the word tacky just sounds stuck up or snotty to me. I wouldn’t invite anyone with that attitude.

For myself I couldn't do it but more and more people are doing it now so I don't think it's a huge deal.

Well where I’m from it’s depends on the age gap? My oldest two were girls they’re almost 3 years exactly apart ! So no baby shower for the second but every one still bought her stuff 😂😂. My third is a boy but regardless of gender because he is a 11 and 8 year difference from his sister every one insisted I needed  a shower bc we were pretty much starting over 😂😂I wasn’t planning on one but my husbands side did one for me!
