Engagement photos?

Help! I have no idea what I’m doing lol. Is this okay?:

So My fiancé and I are going to visit my side of the family and we’re having a day at the beach as a celebration of our engagement. I was thinking of taking some engagement photos but here’s the catch: I don’t plan on hiring a photographer. I was literally just going to ask my brother to snap pictures of us on his I phone lmao. (Or ask someone I know who has a high quality camera) ...

I guess what I’m trying to see here is if any of you took engagement photos without a professional photographer and if you could share your experience- maybe even photos- or if anyone has any advice for me? Thanks💕!
