Home sick

I rarely get home sick, and I’m chalking this up to being partly because of the hormones, but man it sucks.

It sucks not having any family around me to turn to or ask questions (first time mom) that has similar outlooks or values as I do.

It sucks not being able to do any of the celebrations. Not a gender reveal, not a single shower, because it’s not the culture here.

And it sucks that the celebrations that they DO have, I don’t understand. And my MIL didn’t know how to do any of their celebrations and had other aunties plan it for her.

It sucks seeing my husband’s sister who’s due right before me doing all of the things that are “normal” to me, but “foreign” to her (since we basically traded spots on the map).

And I know she feels the same, too, at times.

Being half a world away really does suck sometimes. 🙁
