Getting my GED!!!

I’m so lucky to be able to get my GED, knowing some people will never be granted an education. I went to school until my senior year & struggled with relentless anxiety, even depression for two years. School came easy to me most times until I started struggling with my mental health. My school was going to hold me back for an entire year because of an election credit, after i had moved across the country to go back to public school. (I did online for a year at my dads on a different coast) I was so mentally exhausted by trying so hard to achieve my diploma. I was taking credit recovery, extra credit opportunities and the maximum number of classes a senior can take PLUS night classes. All to be told I wouldn’t graduate over a credit that would be completely useless to me in the real world. So, I dropped out. It wasn’t an easy choice but I knew I could start college with a ged quicker than if I had been held back. For months, I have felt like such a disappointment to myself. Education is very important to me and my family. I hold education in such a high place, though I know it’s not what makes a person. I finally scheduled a section of my GED test & I spent an hour taking it, stressed and hoping I at least got the minimum to pass. I’ve come to find out, I passed with college credit available. I scored in the 90th percentile of people who take the GED test. It’s not an easy road, but it’s a road that’s achievable. Just by accomplishing one portion, I’ve gained so much self confidence back. I’ve realized that dropping out isn’t a disappointing thing and i’ve realized that you’re worth everything if you let yourself be worth it. I’m just so happy & I hope I can help somebody out by this post.
