Aromantic Experience
I came to the conclusion that I was aromantic when I was 16. Throughout my life I had never wanted to be with my crushes romantically. I only wanted to hug them and get to know them (they were always only acquaintances).
I always knew that I wanted a really close guy best friend, but every time I tried I was accused of flirting, and it made me uncomfortable.
I still had never dated or kissed when I was 16, so I gave it a shot a later down the road. Infatuated at first, once things got romantic, I hated it. I’m glad that I learned for sure what I do and don’t like.
I’m don’t get sad that I don’t feel romance, but I get sad when I don’t have the type of companion I’m looking for. For instance, I won’t hang out with my friends that are couples if there is not a 4th person to even us out. 3rd wheeling is the worst.
I don’t tell many people I’m aromantic, but I like to talk to other aromantic people about how they feel and such. (I’m not asexual by the way.)
