Are you planning for natural or epidural?

I know we have a long way to go still, and plans change, but as of right now what are you hoping for?? 
I would like to go natural, but everyone I’ve talked to thinks I’m crazy. Wanted to see what you guys were thinking of doing!

I’m going on this with the mind set of knowing anything can happen and as of now I want the epidural. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with a woman opting for an epidural and if the good lord gave it to us well I’m cool with using it. I also understand why women don’t want the epidural and I applaud those who don’t get one. 
All that being said if I can stand the pain, because who knows I just might, then I will opt to not get the epidural. But I don’t want to go in with my heart set that I’m not getting one and feel disappointed in myself because I ended up with one.

I went with an open mind for my first and I ended up not having a epidural. The pain was intense but I knew it would end.  I did have Nubain to help with pain via IV but by the time I actually
Delivered it was long gone. I plan to have an open mind again depending how labor goes. But I figure if I made it through one long 3 hours of pushing labor I can make it through a second since usually they are faster.

I’m having a home birth so it will be a natural birth! I know home birth isn’t for everyone and that’s totally okay. The most important thing about a birth is that everyone is healthy and you feel positively about your experience. My mom had two natural hospital births followed by four home births (I’m the oldest of six) and I’ve worked with midwives as an assistant and doula for a few years so I feel really confident and comfortable with my decision! I’m really excited to give birth.

If you're interested in natural labor, I highly recommend taking a class such as the Bradley Method. I took one with my husband for my first baby, thinking I wouldn't go through with it. I've now had 3 natural births (thankfully, they have all gone smoothly).
 I'm a big believer in understanding what to expect in labor-- it helps you to not fear the pain, knowing it is just your body working. The more you know, the more informed you will be if/when you have to make decisions about pain relief or interventions.
I recommend "Natural Childbirth the Bradley Way" if you'd just like to read about it. I use it as a refresher and I've let friends borrow it who have said it was helpful when they ended up having natural births by "accident"!

I went in with an open mind for my first baby. Everything went so fast it was med free... until I needed stitching afterwards.
I suggest taking a birth class at your hospital and knowing all the options... good luck!

If you haven’t already, watch the business of being born. I was always leaning towards natural birth but this really reinforced it to me. Of course I understand that things may go wrong and be out of my control but usually one medical intervention leads to another so I will avoid if I can.

I’m going with the what ever happens method lol. I’d like to start off natural, but as things get going and if i feel like my body need an epidural I’ll get one. I don’t want to hold myself to a plan of having to go one way or another. What ever feels right in the moment

Epidural, this is my second and I’m almost positive I’ll have back labor again

I had a natural 6 hour labor and a natural 20 hour labor. If u go in with the mindset you can’t do it then you won’t. If your strong, you have a partner who is helpful, and a village of strong people around you , you can do it. Let the nurses no. Make a sign for your door that says to not offer pain management and have minimal checks. It’s actually worse to check progress and be disappointed. Your body will tell you when yer baby is coming. My advice is read up on how to tune out the pain and find positions that are comfortable. Also. Walk. Walk a lot
And later in pregnancy you can olive oil stretch your vagina to help with non tearing. 
Your hospital bill will also be a lot cheaper :)) 
But in seriousness it’s possible and can be done successfully
