Married to a policeman?

Is anyone married to or dating a police officer? I've started dating a guy in academy and he thinks it's a big deal to be wanting to be with him. I get that he could get shot or something but is it really bad?

It’s the way they are trained. Maybe he’s just trying to seem more heroic. The number are that 7.3 out of 100,000 cops die in the us. So his chances are good.

My fiancé just got hired and starts their academy in august, but he’s coming from the marines so I’m just happy he’ll be home every night (hopefully). I probably have a different mindset than most, as I’m currently in the hiring process as well for the same department. But the way I see it we could all die at any time, it just matters how you live your life while you have it : spend it with the people you love and uphold your values doing what you believe is right. It happens where cops get hurt or die, but that’s not an excuse not to love someone bc they could die. Lol we all will

I’m married to one. It’s scary knowing when they walk out the door for work something could happen to him so it’s stressful and I worry about him a lot. Be supportive of him! That’s very important. I’m super proud of him and what he does. Just make sure to let him know you stand by him and support him and understand it will be worrisome. Reassure him you want to be with him if that’s what you want.

I’m married to one. Dated while in the academy. He did the same thing. It’s just how they are taught to think. Yes it can happen. They tend to think of “ every day could be my last” it’s worse when they are in the academy though.
