How to politely ask guests not to get you clothes for your baby shower?

How do you politely ask guests not to get you clothes for your baby shower? 😩 i feel bad but she literally has SO much clothes like all her drawers are filled, plus her closet and we literally have like 14 trash bags filled, from newborn up to 12m, and we literally don’t need any. i don’t want to come off rude, i just have too much.

There is no way to word it that people won’t bring clothes too, they just get excited and all want to see them in an outfit they bought 🤷🏻‍♀️

My friend just put it on the invite. No big deal. It said something like... ‘no clothes please. We are lucky enough to already have too many’

I would just say “in lieu of clothing we are in need of....” 
I don’t think there is a problem stating what you need and don’t need, as a person purchasing a gift I would want to buy something of use.

I just put it on my registry info and on my invitations. A few people still bought some but I just returned them. My daughter had more than enough and not everyones taste in baby clothes are the same 🤷🏾‍♀️

Yeah there’s no good way to do this. You can hope for gift receipts and return things later, but telling people what they can and can’t spend their money on for you is just a no-go.

Have a diaper shower on the invite tell them to bring diapers and also do diaper raffle.

You can give sizing info and ask for bigger sizes. And you can always return them if too much.

I agree that there’s no effective way of saying this because people get what they want to. You can mention in conversation that you have so many clothes (through 12 months or whatever), so hopefully people get bigger stuff. I found that we had tons of clothes through 12 months but really appreciated Christmas and birthday gifts that were clothes because they’re practical and we didn’t have many in larger sizes. Maybe that will appease everyone? I’m not having a baby shower for my second, but we’re having a girl when I had a son last time. I have been super vocal about how many baby clothes we have through the first year when talking to my family because I know they’re super excited and want to get her stuff because she’s the first granddaughter. So far I’ve only gotten larger clothes as gifts.

I had just politely said that I was already given a large amount of clothes and asked that people not gift any. I told people they didnt even need to bring gifts that I mostly want to spend time with family and friends I havent seen in a long time.
