Ketones in urine?

I’m 35.5 weeks along. Yesterday at my NST they tested my urine due to me being high risk for Preeclampsia. Well my protein cane back “trace” which is no surprise but I was surprised to see I have “trace” Ketones in my urine. The doc didn’t seem too worried cause I’m very monitored. We already know we will be delivering before 38 weeks too but what do ketones entail? Should I be doing something differently?

Ketones typically mean dehydration. Drink lots of water and try to eat a bit more. Your baby will be fine. It only only effects babies in extreme cases. I had this issue a couple weeks ago. I focused on eating healthy and increasing water intake. At my dr yesterday, everything was back to normal.

I asked about that yesterday because I had 15 mg in my urine.  Apparently it happens if you’re a bit dehydrated or not eating enough or often enough.
