Contractions or not?

I read that contractions can be more like tightening. And I’m having on and off tightening at the top of my stomach. Sometimes painful. Think those could be it? Nothing to go into L&D for yet. But idk if I should call the doctor or not and ask...

Everyone has contractions that feel different. I have Braxton Hicks regularly but they aren't rythymnic at all. They feel like tightening on the top of my stomach and while most aren't painful, I've had some that were. I can usually drink ice water and lay down on my left side and make them stop.

Try to time them. If you can time them and they have a labor type pattern you should call.

Are they painful? Braxton Hicks contractions feel like tightening but aren’t painful. I am told real contractions feel more like period cramps and are low in the pelvis.
