Our birth story.
We started the induction@ 6AM. Everything was going great until dr broke my water. Then I started having increased pain in my left hip due to MacKenzie head being in my hips. I was dilated to about a 4.
The doctor wanted me to get an epidural @ around 1:00.The anastisiologist came in and she attempted 3 catheters and finally was able to place one but it was not helping with the pain in my hip. So she removed it and made two more attempts to place another one but she was unsuccessful. She called down to the OR and another anastisiologist came in and made a few attempts got one in and had the same thing happen where it didn’t work. So finally she moved that one and placed another catheter lower and threaded it down instead of up. It finally worked a during all this I passed out and vomited once.
Then @ 4:00 after they finally got the epidural they tried to have me lay on my left side to help get the epidural to work better but MacKenzie wasn’t having any of that so I was stuck on my right side for a few hours.
Then after my husband left @ 8:00 to go check on our kids and set our youngest son up on his feeding pump and get him his meds MacKenzies heart rate started to drop again. The doctor came in and decided we needed to do an emergency c-section. My sister called my husband and told him to get here now. Once in the OR I started to not feel well and almost vomited. My doctor who has been amazing the whole time removed my jewelry and comforted me and told me that it will be ok. The nurse who had been helping me was also assisting and had been super great. And the anastisiologist that had a hard time placing the epidural was there right at my head comforting me and making sure I was doing ok. We had a great team in then OR.
Once the removed MacKenzie she wasn’t breathing the announced a Code Blue to the OR (while my family was in the waiting room. They were freaking out). They attempted to get her to breath and finally @ 5 minutes of life the intubated her and sucked out a bunch of meconium our of her lungs. And finally @ 17 minutes of life they removed the tube and she was screaming and crying. During that time I was praying and crying that you would breath and be ok. They brought her to me and I gave her kisses and they took her away to the nursery to evaluate her.
An hour and a half after she was born they brought her to me and I was so happy to see her and hold her. She is absolutely beautiful and a miracle.
