Crust on baby’s eye

My newborn is now getting a crust / bibby built up on one of her eyes. I don’t know if it’s infected or what’s wrong? Lastnight when we first saw it after she woke up for a feeding her eye was stick closed. Please help

It's could be a clogged tear duct or it could be pink eye. My son got pink eye a lot as a baby. I would say make a Dr appointment to be seen but no need to go to urgent are or the ER.

My 4 week old just had that. I called the nurse at our pediatrician’s office and she said it’s a clogged tear duct. She recommended I use a damp cotton ball to wipe it clean as needed, and to massage the tear duct every couple of hours for a few days. She also said I could take a tiny bit of breast milk and use it when I massage the duct because it has antibiotic properties that help speed up the process. I’ve been doing it and it’s been clearing up a lot!

Nurse said clogged tear ducts are very common in newborns.
