Is this a phase for ~3.5 years old?

So my 3.5 year old has been deliberately not listening to me and I need to repeat myself so many times. Idk if it’s me failing at parenting or the fact that I have a baby due in a few weeks or if it’s just a normal phase. What does everyone think? Any suggestions, apart from yelling or flat out asking her why she’s not listening 😬🤦🏽‍♀️ I’m so tired of this and feeling so defeated

It’s a phase. That combined with the anticipation of change. Your little will be challenging you.

It’s totally normal. Any major changes will absolutely make a toddler act out. I’ve been through it twice. It’s how the cope with big changes. Be prepared for it to get worse or even for your toddler to start regressing a bit once the baby arrives. It’s a huge adjustment for everyone especially for her. Make sure you’re patient and give her time to adjust to this life altering event. Give her a bit more affection and attention when the baby comes and have her help you with the baby. Make her feel included.

I’m in this same spot and while I love my daughter I hate her at the same time. She loves her daddy and only listens to him. I’m chopper liver. Today I picked her up from grandmas house and she screamed and cried to the point of gagging the whole way home. I feel like a failure and a terrible mother. I’m currently pregnant with our second and last child, a boy, and right now I don’t even want him. I just don’t know how much more I can take from her.

My son is 4 will be 5 next month and still chooses not to listen there pushing there buttons to see what they can get away with or not either way stick to ur ground put ur foot down and make sure u never give in

It’s a phase. Most kids go through it at some point, typically by the age of five.
