When to move baby to crib

Question

When did you move your baby to a crib in their own room? My first got moved at 3 weeks old much to my paranoia because she simply could not sleep with my husband snoring. My second is 2 weeks old and seems to have no issue sleeping through his snores but my now almost 3 year old is having mega jealousy that baby gets to sleep in our room and she can't. I was thinking 3 months but conflicted because of reading recommendations of 6-12 months whule also trying to get the transition done before the separation anxiety heightens but after the transition of me going back to work and daughter going back to pre-k. Would love to hear thoughts on what worked best for everyone!

I would have like to wait until atleast 6 months but my little one is outgrowing his bassinet at 4.5 months and is starting to get disturbed by my partner coming home from work at night so we will be moving him to his cot in the next room, I'm anxious so a video monitor is a must have for me!

We moved our daughter at 4 weeks old to her room. She’s now 4 months old and still sleeps great in her room.

Me personally I would already have the baby in his/her own room. With our first we had him in his crib in his room since the day we got home from the hospital at 2 days old. I plan to do the exact same with this baby due in December. That being said obviously everyone chooses different things and that’s okay but you were able to move your first at 3 weeks old. What’s the difference now? Right? I obviously don’t have my second here yet so I haven’t dealt with the jealousy of my toddler and a new baby first hand just yet but I do hear that toddlers can get pretty jealous so it’s important to make sure you set special time aside for the toddler. That being said maybe getting your newborn in their own room will help resolve some of that and hopefully make the transition to two kids a bit easier. Just make sure you have a video monitor and keep an eye on the little babe. I think if you did it once though, you can do it again. Obviously you need to do what you feel is best for you and your babies but thats my opinion.

I was in a situation like you. The snoring kept the baby awake therefore I was awake. All night. I snore myself, so moving baby and I into a separate from away from my husband wouldn’t do anything. She was 7 week when I decided to move her into her own room and she slept amazing! I have a video monitor so I can see every move and hear every noise. I still get up and check on her but if we have another baby and the baby could sleep through the snoring, I would probably still move it around 2 months also. She’s so independent now and it’s amazing! I’d rather have her sleep in her own room than have me getting zero sleep and caring for her in that state... to me, being that exhausted causes more danger to her than her sleeping independently in her own room. You aren’t supposed to bed share but a lot of moms still do that... just like you aren’t supposed to move baby until 6 months but a lot of moms do it before that age as well...

I was nervous about it as well (sleep recommendation is 6-12 months room sharing), but we moved out little one to his crib in his own room the day after his 6 week check-up (we do ise a video monitor). He was gaining weight & freding well, but none of us were getting good sleep. We're pretty sure the dogs panting, drinking water, & shifting around at night would wake him up. As soon as we made the switch, he started sleeping 6+hr stretches at night. It's been so good for all of us in the sleep department, and also bebeficial for our marriage having a space/time for just us again.

I waited with my first until she was 1.5 old. I wouldn’t move a baby to their own room until at least 6 months based on recommendations by leading health organization that room sharing for the first 6 months-1 year lowers the risk of sids. If you have to move them before that I would at least purchase a video monitor.

Never lol they all had cribs, rarely used them.
 Birth to 3/4 months baby slept in a portable bassinet thingy. The one in this picture.

After that they sleep with me until 3ish years. Then they moved to their big kid beds.
