Brown blood

Took a pregnancy test last week negative.. still no period. This morning I was cramping on and off when I went to the bathroom there was brown discharge so I put a pad on.. there was a little bit but when I wiped 20 min ago there was nothing on the tissue.. is this normal? I haven’t had any cramps since this morning. I never have brown discharge before a period. I normally have to do number 2 🌚 and I’ll have cramps then my period comes down.
