How do you keep the love alive?
This is an honest question. My boyfriend and I have been together for 3 years and i have been “mom” to his 4 year old since he was 1.5. Our relationship used to be filled with passion, and love. We would go on dates all the time. Watch movies and have sleep overs in the living room with his son. We would have fun wherever we were.
Anyways, I got pregnant a year or so into our relationship. We now have a 10 month old son together and I’m a SAHM taking care of both kids. (We live in my parents basement because it’s SO EXPENSIVE to live in Colorado. Even just renting) but he offered for me to stay home so we can save money on daycare. I do have a part time job as a waitress at night to bring in extra money.
Lately, we have been arguing over EVERYTHING. Like the dumbest possible things. For instance tonight, I was laying on the couch after the boys went to bed while he was working on his hobby. I got up and got a bowl of cereal and he laid down on the couch next to me. I asked him if he was going to bed (he ALWAYS falls asleep on the couch once he lays down) and he said no, he was just laying there. So I said okay and went about my cereal eating. Well, i forgot what was said but I was joking around with him telling him he always falls asleep and he’s hard to wake up and I like when we sleep next to each other and he got mad thinking that I was complaining. 🤦🏼♀️ he just got up and came into our room, leaving me on the couch.
Anyways, I’m wondering what some of you ladies (or gents) do to keep your relationship alive after you have kids? I’m feeling like we are just going through the motion of being parents and we never have time to ourselves and it’s really putting a damper on our relationship. Any advice would be great! Thanks!
