Rainbow baby labor story

Wednesday July 10th, I had my normal NST appointment at 7:40 in the morning. I had picked up hubby from work at 6 am, we had breakfast together before heading to the hospital. I’m usually at NST for about 20 minutes but this day, my nurse wanted to see more movement as the baby was in deep sleep. I ended up leaving almost an hour later. I had crappy sleep the night prior and hubby hadn’t slept after his 12 hour graveyard shift. I was trying to call off work so that I would just sleep after our next appointment but my boss needed me. At 11, we would see my OB for a routine appointment so me and hubby decided to nap for about an hour. Mind you, my whole pregnancy I had controlled my blood pressure, but this appointment was different. Right off the bat with the first reading it was higher than it had ever been, so she tried again and it wouldn’t go any lower. We wait for my OB and as soon as she walks in she goes “remember I told you this could happen?” So in order to not put me or baby at risk she sends me straight to L&D, to get induced. I had a strong feeling since NST that something was up. So me and hubby go home pack our bags and head to L&D. I get admitted but have to wait for our room to be ready, by then I’m having contractions without even knowing it. We get transferred to our delivery room and get the clear to be able to eat something as this process could take more than a day. I send hubby to get us a burrito. As he’s gone, I’m in the room alone with the baby monitors plugged in after being given the first dose of medicine for induction and I right away notice her heart rate dropping and I start to panic. A different nurse comes in and calls a doctor right away, she begins to flip me to see if maybe the baby has the cord wrapped around. She flips me and everything goes back to normal but as soon as she hangs up with the doctor, her heart rate drops again. This time I get 3 more nurses and an oxygen mask plus a doctor. At this point I’m freaking out and my nurse tries to calm me down. Hubby walks in and has no clue as to what is going on but sees all the staff in with me. By this point the doctor tells me, if they need to I might have to have a c section. I’m totally fine with is as long as baby is okay. This continues to happen and by this time my baby had made an impression on the delivery staff because she kept dropping and as soon as all the staff walked in her heart rate would go back to normal. My parents stopped by to visit, and literally before they left it happens one more time but a lot more severe. They block the monitor from me so I won’t look but I see her rate drop to the 40’s. I get stabilized and at this point doctor says he’s not risking me or baby because now my blood pressure has sky rocketed every time I have a contraction and the baby’s heart rate drops. So he orders my emergency c section and tells hubby to be ready. I get a spinal tap, which hurt like hell. Everything after happens so quickly, that literally about an hour later, baby girl makes her debut. At 12:48 AM, weighing 5 lbs 8 oz and measuring 18.5 inches long. Healthiest and happiest baby, but she’s here ❤️ and I am so in love. Leia Raine, my sweetest rainbow baby 🌈
