Is it bad to let little one nap on you?

Hi mommies! I'm a ftm to a beautiful 5 month old. He is a very high needs baby and loves to cuddle. He especially loves to take his naps on my chest and I'll let him or sometimes put him down. Do you think this is bad? I've been back to work almost a month now and my mother is taking care of him and she hates it because he needs so much affection. Should I make more of an effort to lay him down?

It’s not bad if you are willing to do it all the time because that’s the only way your baby will sleep. But if you want other people to watch your little one or you want your baby to be able to sleep without you, you should probably teach them to sleep in their crib.

My 11 month old sleeps in her crib but takes naps on me. If it works for you, let them sleep on you. It’s a special bonding moment you won’t have forever

Bad not most the time but bad habit to start unfortunately yes.i went down that road an my daughter wanted to nap sleep like this till she was 3 😒

It can be extremely difficult to transition away from contact naps. I have a 13 month old who started doing contact naps at 6 months and we still haven’t gotten him falling asleep independently. It’s one of my greatest parenting frustrations. Holding a 5 month old is one thing but once they get to be 20+ pounds and want you to hold them standing up and don’t know how to fall asleep any other way, you have a real problem. Sorry mama. I know it’s hard to know what’s best for you and your baby.

Its not bad but can start a sleep association with nap=mommy so as someone else said, if you want to be able to put the baby down or have someone else watch, I'd limit how often you do that

It could become hard to grow out of. I use nap time as a time to get things done, play with my 3 year old,, and have time to myself.
