is it ok to be 5 weeks pregnant & sick?

My sister has had a cough, sore throat and cold / flu symptoms for weeks now. I told her I can’t afford to get sick and don’t want to have her over and she said “yeah well too bad”. I am now having an awful sore throat and fatigue. Is it okay to be sick during prehnancy? I am really worried.

It's ok to be sick while pregnant. It's just going to last longer than it would've if you weren't pregnant.

I had food poisoning and that’s way worse at 6w, you’ll be fine and so will the baby you will just feel kinda crappy for a few days

You’ll be fine. If you get sick just take Tylenol cold and sinus or robitussin

It’s fine. I caught EVERYTHING my students had when I was pregnant with my first. I had fevers, stomach virus, food poisoning. Your immune system isn’t as strong when you are pregnant. Your sister should have been considerate and stayed home. Hope you feel better soon!
