Is this a positve OPK? PCOS?
What do you guys think? Is this a positive OPK?? I was just diagnosed with PCOS this past Friday 07/26/2019 but had my suspicions since I was 16 (I just turned 25). My PCOS journey began years ago when I was 16 but in a way is also just beginning because I was just diagnosed. It all began when I didn’t get my period for 6 months and the answer was to put me on birth control to ‘regulate’ my cycles. I’ve always been on the small side and when all this started happening at 16 I was 5’4 115lbs and 16% body fat and actively playing 3 sports. I was not overweight in the slightest and I never displayed any of the other various symptoms of PCOS. My only symptom was the irregular periods, the longest I went without AF was 6 months at that age. I also should mention that my mother and older sister both have PCOS and my mom’s case started when she was also 16 when she was hospitalized for ruptured ovarian cysts. She also use to need shots to induce AF to come. She did end up having 2 healthy pregnancies with my sister and I without use of fertility treatments. Fast forward to December 2018, almost 9 months ago now, my husband and I decided to start trying for baby #1. I got off the pill 12/01 and fell pregnant right away even though I would not find out until late February at my annual gyno appointment. Sadly I miscarried that baby at 8 weeks 5 days and never had the chance to here the heart beat. I had a D&C procedure early March. AF arrived 5 weeks after the D&C and then I had another normal 32 day cycle after that. Things started getting wonky when my last cycle was 52 days long and I started flashing back to my teen years and my absent periods. My mom had talked with me about her PCOS story and the similarities I could not shake. So I go in this past Friday 07/26 for an ultrasound and to have my blood work results reviewed by my doctor. He saw 1mm sized cysts (pretty small) on my ovaries and my blood work was completely NORMAL. I sit at 5’5 now and fluctuate between 135-140lbs (weight I gained in college from a bad diet but still considered a normal healthy weight). My doctor said I absolutely do not fit the picture for PCOS and that mine is probably genetic since my mother and sister both have it. So what’s a girl to do?? My mom did have 2 healthy babies without fertility treatment and that gives me some hope for my TTC journey. So what do you guys think? Is the OPK positive even though I have PCOS? I am currently cycle day 17 and don’t know what to expect or how long this cycle will last, ugh.
