Changing a cheater?

Hey y'all so I was with this guy about a year ago, he cheated on me but now wants me back. Has anyone gone back to someone who cheated and had better luck the second time? Or is it true "once a cheater, always a cheater"? Thank you in advance💕 I'm torn because I know how much I have to offer and not sure if I should wait for someone who will treat me right the first time or if I'm just considering going back because I'm lonely hahaha again, thank you!!!
