Is 9 too old to have a "comfort toy"?

My 9 year old is absolutely obsessed with his Spider-Man.  He won't even think about sleep without him.  He tries to carry him around like a 2 year old would.  My husband doesnt agree we should try to break him of it because our 4 year old has a leopard but shes not as... Creepy with it.  Am i terrible to think that its creepy to see my 9 year old spooning a Spider-Man toy?

My mom is 53 and cried last week because she found her stuffed bear from when she was little.
She was attached to that thing from birth until she was like 10, and then took it to college with her. It still gave her that comfort finding it again, so I would say- no, 9 is not too old.

Nine is practically still a baby...but my opinion and personally don't give a shit what others think of me my children or my family as a whole...my daughter is 14 and still likes Daniel Tiger, Nature Cat, sticker books, stuffed animals, tea sets, very colorful clothes with crazy skirts and patterns...I let my children express who they are from inside out! Period lol😬🤓🙊🙉🙈

I'm turning 26 in a couple of weeks, married w/ two kids... I still have Tabbies, my comfort stuffed animal from when I was a kid. That tiny toy has been everywhere with me! I don't carry it around like how I used to, or have a huge obsession over it. But at the same time I wont get rid of it. 
My 7 year old has her monkey stuffed animal. That's traveled across the country, been to Disney World, and so on. I've noticed she has started to detach herself from it-occasionally still wanting it at night. But overall seems done with poor Monkas. 
What I'm saying is, I believe he's fine. In his own time he will grow out of it.
