Anyone have advice or experience with this ? Very worried
At 20 weeks I had my anatomy scan everything was perfect with our little babe with the exception of two things. An echogenic focus (bright spot on heart with excess fluid) and a choroid plexus cyst on the brain.. I was sent for the harmony genetic testing because apparently those are soft markers for Down syndrome and trisomy ..those 10 days waiting for the results were the worst of my life. I came back low risk for everything and I was relieved. I’m 27 years old with no family history and was low risk to begin with anyway so the testing made me feel so relieved, I read up online that these things are often normal in fetal development and tend to go away by third trimester. My dr scheduled me a follow up ultrasound anyway to check on these markers. So yesterday I went at almost 27 weeks and the choroid plexus cyst was completely gone but the echogenic focus was still there with the fluid 😔 I asked her what it means exactly and she said I had to have a level 2 ultrasound now so they can see exactly what it is and prepare me for birth if needed. Basically my town is so small they do not have a pediatric cardiologist at our hospital. She said it could be nothing but said it also could now be a structural issue since they’ve ruled out chromosome abnormalities. I’m just so scared for my baby’s birth now and waiting to see what it could be if anything..he is otherwise healthy and is measuring a week ahead and said everything else looks great. I was wondering if anyone else had experience with the echogenic focus combined with the fluid entering the third trimester and what was the outcome...I’m a very nervous mama and I know I can’t get my answers online I have to wait until the level 2 ultrasound but maybe hearing other stories of what it could be may help give me a little peace of mind......
