How to tell a struggling friend?

We started ttc June 2017. A good friend of mine started trying April 2017. We both struggled and ended up going through infertility testing at the same time, and neither of us ended up going through with treatments right away. We decided we would start IUI at the end of August. My friend is going to start IUI in January. I found out last week I'm pregnant, without any treatments. How do I go about telling her? Any advice? I know she will be happy for us knowing we struggled for over two years just like she did, but I can only imagine it may still hurt.

As someone who has been on the receiving end of this news from friends during my own infertility struggle, I strongly preferred getting news of pregnancies via texts or emails so that I could have my full reaction in private—which included envy and hurt—and then craft responses that expressed only what I wanted to give them, which was congratulations and warmth. Also as someone who struggles, thank you for thinking about how to bear share this news with a friend who is still in the struggle.

I’d do it face to face and alone if possible, also don’t make it sound like your trying to brag or rub it in with the excitement of pregnancy you sometimes do it without realizing it.
