Did you start letting your kid stay home alone while you run a quick errand?

This would depend on the kid of course. But things to look for would include:
Do they feel ready?
Do they know what to do in an emergency?
Do they know 911 can bring a fire truck, ambulance AND policeman (believe it or not, I’ve found many kids aren’t aware that 911 can bring all three)
Are there rules for when they’re home alone? (Don’t answer the door, don’t play outside, don’t use the oven, etc)
Do they have a phone and know how to get a hold of you in an emergency?
What would they do if there’s a fire? If they hurt themselves? Etc. 
Sometimes kids around 10 can be ready for brief periods of home alone time, but again. - it depends widely on the individual kid and the above questions can help you see if they’re ready. The best way to go about determining this would be to ask them these questions before giving them the answers. See how they do. Then let their answers guide you into making a decision. 
And if they don’t know the answer to one or more, tell them the answer, then ask them the question again a couple weeks later to see if they’ve retained it.

First you have to figure out your state's law on what age they can be left alone. And then it depends on the child and how mature they are and how much you trust them.

My oldest is 9, haven't left her home alone yet. If I had to guess when, I'd say 12.

Definitely depends on the kid. I started babysitting at 11 so definitely by then. I'd say 4th grade would make sense. Again tho, depends on the child as some are more mature much earlier or later than others.
