Are they the Less important parent

Are fathers the less important parent of a mother is full time in a child’s life? Why do you believe society views mothers as the better/more important parent? I ask because both my husband and I are looking for work and I might have a job within the next week or 2 while he’s still going through the process of getting into the job he wants, so he might stay home with our son while I work. It seems like such a shock to people and some family members are even upset with me for going to work. When did fathers become second rate parents?
