Need help flirting.

I absolutely suck at flirting. I have a massive crush on a friend of a friend. We've met a couple times, but nothing evolved past heavy flirting.... unfortunately I think others are trying to get the friend and him together. We live on separate coasts and with her (friend) job she can easily hop on a plane and see him.

She says she's not interested in him, but I'm not so sure. I haven't told her about my crush and would rather do so if anything develops so it doesn't get awkward.

I have a work trip in November and I'm hoping to meet up with him. I wanted to give my number the last time we met, but the friend was with me and it was just awkward.
