I confused my boobs

Kellie

I specifically remember when my daughter was 10 days old and I was in such pain from being constantly engorged. My milk came in on the 4th day. Since then I had to pump every 4 hours I would be in pain and I'd pump 3 or more times a day just for relief. I ended up tapering off my pump sessions to regulate my supply a little and then due to unforeseen circumstances where I've been out of my house I was exclusively breastfeeding, no pumping but using my haaka- 2 or less bottles a day. Now she's 28 days old and for the last week it's like I can't produce enough! She's still hungry after feedings and I offer both sides. I always wait for her to unlatch also. She is gaining enough weight, just had her appointment on Tuesday and she's right on track - Dr didn't tell me I needed to supplement.

So when I pump I get no more than 5oz combined in a 20 min session where before I'd get at least 10oz if not more in a 12 minute session. I'd like to have a supply for when I go back to work and I'm putting a big dent in the supply I froze from when I was overproducing just keeping her fed and happy.

I've tried body armor drinks and oatmeal and sometimes they work. Getting plenty of sleep, have been less stressed lately. Wearing loose nursing bras, not on any medication. Have forgotten to take my prenatal for a few days (again since I've been out of my house). I'm at my wit's end! I'm so afraid my milks drying up!

I've decided today to go back to pumping for 20 mins twice a day to try to spike my production -- correct me if I'm wrong.

Any suggestions to try to get to a happy medium. I don't want to be engorged to the point I'm in pain but I also don't want to have a hungry baby. :(
