My stepson and I have a very strained relationship. I try so hard to be patient and forgiving. He is very willful and stubborn. I love him so much and have tried every piece of advice given to me to develop a relationship with him. Most days he only humors my presence in his life when he needs something. Today he’s leaving for college. I tried to say goodbye and have a nice semester etc and he just turned into a huge dick. Told me I was treating him like a child and trying to scare him. Rationally I know he was lashing out because he is scared about going to college but it hurt so bad. No one warns you when you become a stepparent that even if you try your hardest sometimes they just don’t ever accept you and will continue to do whatever they can to hurt you.
