Giving one month old a glycerin suppository??

Question

Baby hasn’t pooped in four days. Called the doctor and he said to try a glycerin suppository. Have you done this? Does that sound right? Or he said I can put a thermometer up her butt and move it around to help simulate her to go. She just turned a month old.

Is she breastfed? Breastfed babies can go 10-14 days without pooping before it's considered a worry. 
I wouldn't worry about it yet mama. Do some bicycle legs and gentle tummy massages.

If you do a suppository, cut t in half. I had to do this with my daughter.

It's not recommended (at least in my country) to stimulate with a thermometer.

I know your baby is bottle fed, but is he/she bottle fed breastmilk or formula? My breastfed baby, both via breast and bottle, goes once a week and it's normal. His pedi said as long as his stomach isn't hard and when he does go, that it is still soft consistency, than it's normal. If his stomach is hard and when he pops it's pebbles, then he's constipated. Do we just left it alone and he's just fine. It your baby is formula fed, then I'm not sure.

We have done this with both babies. We use about a 1/4 of the stick.  It makes it easy for them.

Call the pediatrician to double check but ours told us that if he wasn’t pooping that as long as he ate at least 4 oz of formula he could have 1 oz of water after that. Worked like a charm 😊👌🏼

It can be normal for babies to go days without pooping is she fussy or is her belly bloated? If not then she’s fine but my baby had a very hard time pooping on her own so her pediatrician suggested using dark Karo syrup I gave her 2 teaspoons in a 4 ounce bottle every morning and it kept her regular she’s no 4 months old and eating baby food so she poops much better now on her own
