How many times a day should he eat?

My baby boy is 2 days shy of 7 weeks. I’m wondering how many a day he NEEDS to feed and how many hours he can go in between feeds now?

Don’t overthink it. Let him tell you when he’s hungry and when he’s done a feed. As long as his diaper output is on point for his age just roll with it. My favourite piece of bf advice has always been “watch the baby not the clock”

Depends on the baby really and how they’re being fed. They’re all different. My first two weren’t gaining like they should so waking them to feed was something that my pediatricians suggested. Not going over 2-3 hours during the day and not going over 4-5 hours at night. My third gained well so I didn’t worry as much if he went over a certain amount of hours at night. I still woke him to feed during the day if he went over 3 hours without eating though.

If he’s hungry, he’ll let you know! 
My girl is 11 weeks now, and by about 6 weeks I stopped waking her to feed, and she definitely lets me know when she wants food! Haha sometimes it’s 2-3 hours, usually now though it’s 4-5 (sometimes more at night).

My son about to be 6 months. When I pop him out I never did the 2 hour feeding. I alway let him tell me when he hungry.

Mines was every hour on the hour right up until 6 months ish. Plus he was having pureed foods from about 4 months and still breastfeeding every hour lol. At nights he would 4-5 hours between feeds now at nearly a year he can go from 7pm-7am.

It depends on how many ounces he takes in per feed, but in general, should be every 2-3 hours.
