How did your husband/SO prepare for birth?

I’m lucky in the sense my husband is a paramedic and has witnessed a few births and c-sections and is educated enough to deliver a baby by himself BUT I would like him to learn more about the actual labor part and the support part. He’s amazing and I know he will be a huge help but wondering if anyone has any good books for their others. We are taking a hypno birthing class together so that will help.

my partner didn’t prepare. Everything started happening and he just switched and was amazing! It was like something in him just knew what to do, he was there holding my hand, talking me through the pain and was amazing with our son. There’s a few books out there though just for dads

He didn't and was actually really supportive through my natural birth. I do wish he learned more about taking care of a newborn though because he was not prepared at all.

There’s a book called The Birth Partner by Penny Simkin that might help. We’ve been taking her class and it’s really helpful.

From my previous birth, you just need him to adapt to whatever you need.. comfort, quiet, massage, getting you a drink ect 😅. Given he’s a paramedic, I feel he’ll have all that under control! It’s great you’re doing a class together! X

He didn’t do anything really lol. It was bizarre how fast he changed over to this amazing support partner. However, I did talk to him a lot about what I was learning so I think that helped him know what to expect
