You definitely can. But formula is expensive and you never know if your baby would have a reaction to the type your buying so if you do, keep that in mind. I didn’t buy any formula simply because it would be an easy out. I had a rough time with breastfeeding the first week or so and I would’ve gave in for sure. I successfully breastfed for 16 months.

I did this, the pro was
I had formula readily available in the house for when I broke at 4 am 3days in after birth from exhaustion. 
The con was I had it readily available so caved!! 
If I hadn’t of had it there, who knows I might if exclusively breast fed for a bit longer
I continued to combine BF and formula for 8 weeks atleast. I didn’t plan on BF or formula, I was just gonna go with the flow so I’m glad I managed to do it for a bit. 
If you do get formula don’t open the pack and it will last ages. But do read how to make a bottle before you have the baby because I didn’t and trying to read instructions exhausted with a crying baby on you at 3am isn’t easy 😂😂

You can, but some babies are really sensitive to certain types so I wouldn’t buy much. I probably wasted about $300 and tried about 15 cans of formula til I found what my son could have. I breast fed him but my body stopped producing milk after a month and a half.

I had to supplement two days after I left the hospital. We went to the dr because she wasn’t pooping. And he gave us formula to supplement with. Eight ready made little bottles and a can. My hospital also provides all the formula you would need while you are there, if you need it that early. My baby is only on formula now. And she has to have sensitive formula. So I would just be careful. Because you never know.

i did. I brought a tin into the hospital with me so i was all prepared if i wasn’t able to breastfeed and i’m glad i did because i was too tired and in too much pain i made my partner make up a bottle and feed him so i could rest

I had big issues with supply (and your nipples will be killing you) I recommend u have some on hand in case u need to make up birth weight or need a break for a feeding. It is pretty tough and those nipples won’t get a break as you’ll be feeding every 2-3 hrs! I’d definitely get nipple cream, nipple shields (they saved me and meant I was able to breastfeed with latching issues until we sorted those out) and a breast pump. The pump will help up your build supply.
