Anatomically correct dolls for children?
My 5 year old received a gift from my god mother. It’s a horse and horse trainer. I thought it was really cute, she loved it.. last night she was playing with it and left it on the floor. I have no idea how I missed this before.
He came fully loaded apparently. I’m not sure how I feel about it. I’ve taught my children about their anatomy and bodily functions since age 3. She’s never mentioned it and I’m sort of glad because I know it wasn’t a big deal to her at all. It’s just a normal body part.
I mentioned it to my family and some were appalled. So I did some research and found out it was extremely controversial.
Other dolls with less pronounced genitals didn’t seem to be “as bad” as dolls that have detailed genitals. Here are some more examples.
This is a boy. He can urinate and cry. His penis is just a little stump with a hole in it.
These dolls are more detailed. But still smoother in appearance.
This doll, is clearly was more detailed. Color and folds..
If we change the skin type or fabric to plush, does it make any difference?
Does the species matter? Like my daughters horse?
What are your thoughts? How much detail is ok? Do you think this is beneficial? Or unnecessary?
