Do people just have NO common sense!!??!?!!!?!

I'm so beyond pissed right now I honestly just want to go hide in a cave with my baby!!!! (Not literally)
NO one has respect for very simple rules that I have for my newborn! 😟
I'm not mean either about it but I might start!! 
My mother and father in law smoke, so I just ask that they dont before they come over and to wear a clean shirt but they dont!! And then they lecture ME about holding him!!!! And my SO is very unsupportive with backing me up! Its MY BABY. I dont want him breathing in the smell, period!!!!!!!!!!
My family members as well keep wearing cologne, perfume, hair spray, etc and getting mad or offended when I just ask nicely not to next time...
People want to come over when I just got discharged, they want to be in my house, they all just cant keep their hands off!
I'm happy my family is excited and loving and they mean well, but seriously, PLEEASSEEEE stop touching my baby with your STINK!!!!😭😭😭😭 
My mama bear senses are going off the charts!!!!!

After I told my family not to wear perfume some still did and so the next time I lied and told family that my son got a rash the last time they held them and that I “thought” it was their perfume haha it worked. No more perfume! Not the best way around it but got to do what you got to do.

I wouldn’t say that not wearing cologne, perfume, hair spray, etc. is common sense.
If you’re feeling this way, maybe it is best to just lay off the visitors until you feel your baby can be around these things.

My MIL goes HEAVY on the perfumes, hairspray, lotions etc 
She pets our cats and our cats smell like her for a good hour. I don’t want her smell to get on the baby and irritate the baby’s skin! 
My family smokes and I won’t let them near my newborn if I smell smoke on them, which is gonna be hard cause they smoke in the house which means everything smells like smoke including their clean clothes. 
Now they’re not allowed to smoke before coming to visit the baby, so if I ask them at night to come visit the baby in the morning I expect them NOT to smoke in the morning knowing they’ll be visiting my baby. 
My family quit smoking when they had their kids, but have NO problem smoking in front of me while pregnant 
Which is bullshit. 
If they can’t respect my rules they won’t see my kid.

My twins were in the nicu and when we left the nurse told us that smoking has something like 800 chemicals left on a person. That it’s a leading cause of sids. We asked everyone to wash up wen they came over. My mother in law worked two blocks over and never came to visit she threw up a fit about having to wash up. I told her she’s no grandmother to my babies until she learns how to act right and now put my children at risk. They were one month when we got into a fight and they are turning 8 months soon she hasn’t been around since. No regrets that’s my babies t protect.

Just tell everyone u need time to heal and you aren’t accepting visitors. I did. Everyone hated it but me n baby we’re home with no problems minding our own business. It was great. Mothers don’t need the extra stress coming home with a newborn

I always say, friends and family can SPOIL the baby, not torture it. Torture includes doing anything that can knowingly make the baby sick, as well as waking baby from naps, or not allowing them to nap, and not letting me nurse when they are hungry. 
If they insist on torturing rather than spoiling for their own selfish reasons, they don't need to see the baby.

People don't care. They think that just because they are related they can do whatever they want. Instead of asking tell him if they can't respect your rules then they will not see your child. I bet things change really quick.

I can understand what you’re saying. My mom smokes and to cover it up she puts on so much perfume and strong scented lotions. I finally had to ask her to stop wearing strong scented things and to get a clean shirt. I could either smell the smoke or lotions from a mile away. These things can irritate a baby and their skin. I also just hate anything that has a strong smell... He/she is your child and you can ask whatever you want of people who want to hold them. Especially if it’s your first.
