How important is it for a man to ask woman's parents before proposing?
I'm just wondering everyone's opinions on this. I know it falls into it being a cultural vs religious vs traditional thing but I'm trying to gauge how common it is and everyone's thoughts on it. I've never been the "traditional" type and although my mom raised me Catholic, it just never really stuck and I'm just not really a religious person. My SO is the same way.
I'm just curious about people's views on it and whether your opinions stem from religion, culture, up bringing, tradition, etc?
