When do they stop crying 😂

My son was rocked to sleep up until this month. I figured enough is enough. I rocked him to sleep because he would scream and cry so much any other way. He's 14 months now and I gave in and I have been putting him down awake but drowsy, as recommended by our dr. He absolutely SCREAMS like bloody murder. He now only screams for about half a minute(at first it was 15 minutes then less each night) then falls asleep but it breaks my heart. And I wait until he's very tired...But he hates being put down like this. I know I shouldn't have waited so long but I never agreed with cry it out and now I felt like he was stuck not knowing how to fall asleep. He cries for a short time but it's so loud and sad. How long **typically**until they stop crying when you put them down? Any other tips for me? He's sleeping so much better now! I just wish he wouldn't scream such a sad scream when I place him in bed 🙁 I've always tried to do anything he needs but the Dr feels I spoiled him

It's so much easier to teach them to self soothe when they're younger. I was like you with my oldest. I thought doing cry it out was cruel. She got to 12 months old and by that time our nighttime routine was close to two hours long. Rocking her to sleep was a nightmare because she would wiggle and kick and fight sleep like crazy. I decided to finally sleep train and I'd say it took about a week for her to fall asleep without crying. But it was tough because by that time she could stand up in the crib and yell mommy and she was used to me rocking her so she didn't know how to go to sleep without it. The hardest part was staying consistent but consistency is required or else they don't know what to expect night to night and it'll take longer. 
 My 2nd and 3rd I started at 4 months old and it was much much easier.

My little guy sometimes cries when I put him down. Not even every night just maybe once or twice a week. He typically cries just for about 2 minutes then he rolls over and passes out. It’s hard sometimes but he’s fine and I will go comfort him if he cries any more than a minute or two. It gets better!

I agree you can’t spoil a baby BUT they get used to things and have preferences. It will get better. My daughter has been putting herself down since about 6 months (she’s 12 months now) and she still occasionally cries but stops 30 seconds afterwards.

You can’t spoil a baby I hate it when people say that. Crying is how they communicate. However my boyfriends niece is put to bed when it’s bedtime (she’s 2) & she cries a little bit & she’s fine. She isn’t fazed really
