My husband’s cousin has been having bad luck with roommates. In the past year she’s lived with three different sets of roommates. The last group of people she lived with lost their apartment, so we let her stay with us. We live in a two bedroom apartment with our two toddlers. My husband’s cousin like staying with us so she asked if she can stay permanently. Since my husband and I are saving to purchase a house, we figured her paying to sleep on our couch would be fine for a year. (She works nights so we’re never home together)

She’s been staying with us for about 3 months and she does nothing to contribute to the house. She pays her portion of the rent but she does not clean. I can understand her not wanting to pick up the kids toys, but am I wrong for thinking she should clean the bathroom and the kitchen sometimes? She also pays me $40 dollars a week so I can make larger meals.

Would it be wrong for me to ask her to wash the dishes and clean the bathroom sometimes?
