Transitioning to crib?

Question

We are cosleeping with our LO because we were dying of exhaustion but now we might be ready to transition him to his crib.
How have you ladies done this?
Does it help to put his crib in our room? 
How long did it take for your LO to successfully go down in their own crib?
Is 12 weeks too early to transition? Should I wait until he’s 6 months old?

it may take you a few days to a week before he gets used to the crib. So you may have a few rough nights, but dont give up! We transitioned our little around 3 weeks. I started putting him in the crib for naps during the day then did the same for nighttime. It takes him longer to fall asleep in the crib and there are nights he wakes up 5 min later and I have to restart the process. The crib is in his room. We tried using a pack n play in our bedroom, but he made too much grunting noises for me to be able to fall asleep.
12 weeks, you might be getting to the point where he is rolling and shouldnt swaddle but that is all dependent on your baby's development... (Our LO is 8 weeks). But our process right now is diaper change, swaddle, feed, read/rock/sing, place in crib and leave hand on belly for an additional 2 to 3 minutes then leave the room. We have a video baby monitor so if I see him starting to rouse, I go back and place my hand on his belly while he is in the crib and shush him till he falls asleep again. The latter only works if he is still drowsy. If he is screaming then I have to pick him up again.
I think if you want to transition to the crib, it will be easier to do it now rather than wait till he gets older. But know that you are creeping closer to the 4 month sleep regression. Anything you do during that time may not work. You will just have to be consistent with your routine.
