Did me and my husband take the prank to far? Updated

So we have security cameras all around our home that are always recording . One day we had a great idea on how to prank his friend. His friend just bought a brand new car and every time he comes over (which is almost everyday) he parks in the same spot. We all usually hang out in the living room we have a monitor in there that shows all the camera channels on a split screen. So the day before we had footage of him backing out of our driveway and driving away (you can’t see him just the car driving away)... you see where I’m going with this right 😂.

When he came over the next day we had the footage paused on right before the car drives away. We all are in the living room and and me and my husband look at each other and give the signal and press play. We look at the cameras and yell “dude who is in your car” he looks over and he sees his brand new car driving away. He freaks out gets up and starts running, runs so fast he literally ran out of his shoes ones shoe flew one way and the other flew the other way up in the air. We follow behind him laughing our ass off😂😂. By the time he gets outside he realizes his car is still there. After his heart rate goes down he soon realizes we just pranked him. Me and my husband are still dying of laughter. But he doesn’t take it to well and gets mad and throws a hissy fit over the prank.

Honestly did we take it to far?

Update- thanks for all the comments we do pull little pranks on each other but this one really got him, he did get mad at first, we were just laughing so hard couldn’t stop. For a good 10 minutes after the prank he didn’t say anything I understand his heart dropped he just though his car just got stolen. We didn’t know if the prank was going to work because we thought he might notice the “play” icon on the screen or that the time was wrong. But we fooled him, he was able to laugh about it a couple hours later. Now he wants to be part of the same prank pulled on a different friend that comes over often 😂😂 lets hope this friend doesn’t get to mad haha
