Im i allowed to ask my boss to cut down my hours?? 40 hrs a week is too much for my body. I cant do it anymore i am 33 weeks nd everything hurtss... i wish i could quit but my health insurance is thru my job and for personal reasons i cannot get insurance somewhere else.

I work in my company’s HR department and, depending on the company you work for, you will most likely need a doctor’s note to reduce your hours and it can’t cause an undue hardship on the company if you were to reduce your hours. Another alternative is that if you and your workplace qualify for FMLA, you can take it intermittently at any point during your pregnancy. So, if you needed to decrease your hours to 36, you could use 4 hours of FMLA every week. Just keep in mind that will cut into the time you have after you give birth. Unless you live in a state that has a family leave law, and then it’s kind of a moot point since that leave will kick in before your FMLA time ends.

Definitely talk to your boss and/or HR about accommodations. I just spoke to my boss Friday and I’m being given the chance to work from home which will help me tremendously. Fingers crossed you can find an arrangement that works for you!
