Period & Yeast Infection

I got a yeast infection 2 weeks ago & as soon as it was pretty much gone I started my period. Tampons obviously excessively hurt from the inflammation but I kept using them bc I had to. It has been a few days since my period ended and Im still a little inflamed and uncomfortable. Is it because of the infection & having to use tampons right after? I go to the gynecologist soon and I am terrified as most people are before but im so scared its like HPV or something, Im sure im just overthinking but if anyone has any info or anything to help relieve this stress I would appreciate it!!
