How to handle a long distance relationship?

so my boyfriend and I have been together for almost 3 months. we met during my summer break and i’m about to leave in a week for my senior year of college. we are only going to be 3 hours apart and we have already talked about and thought about each of us visiting and making time to talk to each other etc.. However, I want to do the best I can to keep the relationship in the best state it can be while we are apart. Any advice ?
