Toxic family

My husband and I decided to have Thanksgiving at our house rather than going to see his family. His mom was offended, but he explained to her that we just want to spend is as a family. She said she understood. 🙄 Later the same night we get a call from his sister telling us that their mom and dad attacked her saying it was her fault that we aren’t coming and she better fix it. How, as a parent, can you justify putting your children against one another?! Jokes on them, my husband and his sister have a very respectful and trusting relationship. My heart hurts for them though.
